Primary education is the first stage of formal education in a range of basic subjects. It generally requires no previous formal education and is typically the beginning of systematic studies. Characteristic of a typical primary education are the formal tuition of reading, writing and mathematics.
We would expect primary education projects to consider the needs of all potential beneficiaries, including those from hard to reach groups such as disabled children. An integral part of preliminary project planning and needs analysis should include an evaluation of the schooling currently available in the area, any barriers to entry (capacity, location, school fees etc) and any links or partnerships which could be formed. It is essential for any projects to demonstrate how activities will be sustained after the end of the grant.
