Next to the boom and development of technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) – all networks connected to the internet can be considered to be the trend and the future of the world. To the devices can communicate with each other, they will need one or more protocols, can be viewed as a specialized language to solve a task. The article will conduct the survey, the two most promising protocols for application layer network in IoT was the MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) and CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol). Based on the results of research on architecture, modes of transmission, the mechanism of publish/subscribe, feedback/response, security, quality of service (QoS) to compare the two protocols together and eventually given to comment on the scope of application for the IoT design.
